irin travels is a travel and culture collective for curious wanderers. We focus on curating group experiences around Africa, encouraging our community to travel and discover with us.

irin travels inaugural trip to Morocco will be an opportunity to visit the best of the country’s attractions from Casablanca to Chefchaoune.  Travel from the snow capped Atlas Mountains to the endless sands of the Sahara, the medieval town of Fes to the spice markets of Marrakech and to the blue city of Chefchaouene. Here the rich history and natural beauty awaits.


Observe the vibrant collision betweeb old and new expressed in architecture and artwork. Learn about fallen cities and cross paths with nomadic tribes. Jump in and discover the many mysteries and legends concealed within this moody, ever-changing landscape.

Morocco 2018? Are you ready


Day 1 – Welcome to Morocco

You’ll land in Marrakech or Casablanca in mid-afternoon and get a chance to meet your fellow travelers in person for the first time (yay!). Once you’ve had the chance to get acquainted, you’ll board the private irin travels shuttle to your riad, where you’ll be staying for the duration of the trip. After a lovely group lunch,  the rest of the afternoon is yours to explore, relax, and get settled in your new environment.

In the evening, we’ll head out to the famous and ever vibrant Jemma el Fna square for a night of music, snake charmers and street food. An unforgettable way to kick off your stay in Morocco.

Day 2 – All About the Culture

After an early breakfast, we’ll be in for a day filled with art, culture and history. We”ll hit up the Koutoubbia mosque, Saadian tombs, Ben Youssef Medersa and the Museum Photographie & Visual Arts.

Day 3 – Famous Jardins, Henna and Relaxing Hammam

After a leisurely morning and a sumptuous breakfast, the day is yours to explore, experience, and relax. Get lost in the medina, people-watch from a street side café, dip into a hammam for some relaxation and pampering, or visit some of the many architectural marvels Marrakech has to offer. If you’re feeling adventurous, we encourage you to hop a taxi and explore the city and its striking cultivated gardens by car. Although the day is yours, you’re free to join us at the Yves Saint Laurents famous – Jardin Majorelle and end the day with a traditional Hammam and Henna at the medina.

Day 4 – Road Trip

A day of stunning natural beauty and true Moroccan architecture, our road trip into the Sahara begins.  After breakfast in our riad, we’ll bid Marrakech adieu. Our departure is scheduled at 7 a.m, the first stops should at the tichka  pass for some pictures of the beautiful landscape. Then on to kasbah ait ben haddou , a striking example of traditional architecture in the southern Morocco. After a stop at ait Ben Haddou , the famous mud city and UNESCO world heritage site we’ll head to Ouarzazate and to the cinematographic studios. Refresh while having lunch (if required) and then to Skoura,  where we’d stop for some pictures in the palmerais circuit and carry on to rose valley and visit the cooperative for the roses.

We will cross the Saharan plains where we can spot the nomads herding their camels before we reach  the marvelous Valley of Todgha, a lush green oasis running along a beautiful deep valley inhabited all  along by the Berber tribes in Kasbahs and fortified villages.

Day 5 – Camel Rides & Camp underneath the Stars

After breakfast, we depart for the town of Merzouga by the road of 1000 Kasbah, through tinjdad ,  Erfoud , Rissani. Our arrival in Merzouga sees the starting point for an unforgettable 4×4 ride into the desert and our camp. After arriving at the desert of erg chebbi, we are in for a unique glamping experience complete with a typical Berber dinner and songs.

Day 6 – Sunrise, Drives and Fes

Today is all about the natural beauty we’d get to admire on our travel route. We’ll kick off the day with a camel ride on top of the dunes to watch the sunrise and head back to the camp for breakfast then off we go to the medieval town of Fes. Say goodbye to our camp and leave Merzouga towards Fes via Midelt and the Valley of Ziz. We will start our trip passing by the Ziz Gorges; where we can see the natural landscapes of  the High Atlas and marvel at how the scenery changes from the red-tinged Saharian hues to green.

After a brief stop in Azrou for pictures in a beautiful Berber village right in the heart of the biggest forest in Morocco. The trip will carry on to Ifran, a magnificent village by the mountains; named the “Moroccan Switzerland” it’s different from the other cities in  Morocco.  After all that travelling we arrive in Fes and spend a night in a riad in the Medina.

Day 7 – Hi Fes, Bye Fes, Hi Chefchouene

Step back into the Middle ages in the labrinth of Fes Medina which is alive with craftsmen, markets, tanneries and mosques. Pass donkeys piled high with goods and explore the specialty sections that divide the souk. After a day of discovery, prepare for a journey to Chefchaouene. Depending on our departure time, after arrival at Chefchouene we get to explore the city or just relax at our riad especially after all that travelling.

Day 8 – Waterfalls and The Blue Pearl

After breakfast in our riad, we get to wander around the famous Blue city – get lost, appreciate it’s hues and tones and marvel at the fact that you really are here in Morocco. Reconvene for a trip to Akchour after lunch in the Medina. Taking in the scenery en route the waterfall, we spend the rest of our day hiking the trails and jumping into waterfalls! With life at home beckoning – there’s the option for one final Moroccan hammam to get you arriving extra fresh and relaxed

Day 9 – Bye Morocco

If you’d like to get up early for a final fix of Chefchaouene, you’re welcome to do so before breakfast! After we eat, the irin travels shuttle will depart for the Casablanca airport. Tearful goodbyes and promises to come back will ensue.
